About Braeview Escapes
Braeview is a working farm near Coldingham in the Scottish Borders, and it's been in Morag's family since 1964. The glamping pods are newer. The reason for building them is a longer story.
MORAG AND JONNY
The story behind Braeview.
Morag grew up on this land. She left for a career in agriculture and later offshore oil and gas, industries that tend to run their people hard, before training as a massage therapist. That combination turned out to be useful. Working in oil and gas teaches you what genuine exhaustion looks like. Training as a massage therapist teaches you how rarely people actually recover from it.
Within the space of a couple of weeks, two significant health events brought things into sharp focus. It was time for a change, not just in pace, but in purpose. Morag came back to the family farm in the Scottish Borders, Jonny came with her, and they started building something they both knew was needed.
Jonny is from the north-west of England. He had no farming background whatsoever. He now has one. He also still works in IT locally, which is why the WiFi at Braeview is genuinely reliable, a detail that comes up more often than you'd expect.
The pods were designed from scratch to their own specification, built by Lune Valley Pods, and opened in May 2021. Braeview appeared on Channel 4's Four in a Bed not long after opening. They've been operating year-round since.

THE APPROACH
Why we do things the way we do.
The adults-only, pet-free decision wasn't commercial calculation. It was the thing they'd both been looking for and couldn't find. Real quiet. No surprises. A place where the point is actually rest, not activity.
The milk in the fridge when you arrive, the marshmallows ready for toasting, the beds guests keep mentioning, none of it is accidental. It comes from knowing, at first hand, what the difference between a good break and a proper one looks like.
Morag and Jonny are on the farm every single day. Not hovering. They're very practised at being nearby without being noticed. But if something needs sorting, someone is always there.
The farm itself is a priority too. Since Braeview opened, the natural habitat around the site has been actively improved. There are noticeably more birds, butterflies, and insects than when it started. An on-site wind turbine provides nearly all the farm's green electricity.
And if the rest isn't quite enough on its own, Morag offers therapeutic massage in The Bothy, a space on the farm where guests can also pick up a board game, a book, or a pack of cards to take back to the pod.

After showcasing the best of the Scottish Borders and demonstrating their commitment to high standards and guest comfort, Braeview was crowned the winner. The experience was a fantastic validation of everything they had set out to achieve.
